Where we rinse quotes for their deepest meaning

You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created.
Albert Einstein

We get solutions when we elevate ourselves from the platform on which the problem exists. Doing this gives us a bird’s eye view, and then we see the whole picture rather than just a part of it. This explains the fact that ideas bounce off us in places like the shower, in the park, in our sleep rather than in the office where the problem originated. So take a breather, enjoy an afternoon stroll on the street, and you will be poised on a different level which enhances problem solving.

Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of the originality.
Beatrix Potter:

Talk about the raw deal. Some people turn out to be better off without any form of schooling. This, however, does not disregard school. We are naturally creative when young, but as we grow up the world mould us into a cast, hence losing a great deal of our uniqueness and creativity. We lose that eye of scrutiny, that roving imagination and that unlimited awe and wonder. We lose what the world would have needed most, and replaced by what the world is saturated with—commonality.

There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.
Buckminster Fuller

Growth occurs all the time, when we realize it or not. When you cannot find a solution now, try later, or tomorrow or in a week’s time, for with time we gain growth. Though small, sometimes this growth is enough to help us find solutions. Let us not be discouraged by what we see currently. Let’s look intently and find that hidden metamorphosis needed for the transforming that flop into a success.

The dream was always running ahead of me. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that was the miracle.
Anais Nin

As long as we live, will always have dreams of those things we greatly want in life. The more we ignore them as simple illusions, the more our lives will lack that thing that we really desire in life. Through dreams we learn what we are capable of, the life we CAN live if we decide to pursue it. It’s always a pointer to what is out there that can be legally ours only if we want it enough to go out and pursue it.

Dreams are necessary to life.
Anais Nin

When you dream, you express a desire that is deeply entrenched in you, and which you want to make a realization. But most people resort to plain wishing instead of really desiring that dream. Dreams are there to challenge us to yearn for more, strive much harder, and step up and upgrade our lives. When we achieve them, we feel fulfilled and alive. Sadly, most of us nonchalantly ignore the dream and remain stacked in our comfort level, which in reality, is not comfortable in the long run.

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
Carl Jung

Life’s answers are always laden in us. We constantly look for solutions out of our soul not knowing that all that we ever want to know is deeply situated within us. This realization, though simple, is an enigma to many people. We allow so much confusion in our lives when we run left to right seeking for others’ opinion not realizing that people will only tell us their own version of the solution. This may not necessarily be best for us, because we are all unique, and so that which is working for others may be the complete opposite of what’s in us.

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself
Andy Warhol

Time is always on a constant roll, without stopping. We, on the other hand, stop a forward progress for a breather. When we forget to continue, then we slacken and until we are reminded to continue then the transformations in this fast-changing world compel us to. We have the power to change or remain the same. Sometimes it costs us a lot not keeping up, and we risk getting out of touch with the world. To be up-to-date, stay awake and look around for what’s changing, and if necessary make those transformations that you need to.

Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change

The wisest are on top of things, and are in control of his situation, and therefore aware of their moves. The stupidest are on the bottom, way beyond anything, and are too ignorant to see what change is necessary to make. Sometimes when reminded, he prefers to play it safe, and hence remains the same. The wisest on the other hand has a clear vision of what’s ahead, and hence maintains a status quo which though resistant to any change, is favorable to any situation that comes up.

They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom

Change is always occurring, and when it does, it makes different everything around us. We realize that what used to work doesn’t and what sounded okay now needs a revision. What was small is big, and what was impossible is now possible, and vice versa. We no longer fit into the reality. With no change, it becomes difficult to live in those current conditions, and that makes us unhappy. Then we resort to change, in constant search of that which makes us happy and fulfilled. Change is necessary to fulfillment.

Change your thoughts and you change your world
Norman Vincent Peale

Before anything happened, it had occurred in thought—consciously or subconsciously. Thoughts go before us, and so determine our success or gloom. “Thoughts are things”, so they say and so modeling what you think, is modeling your life. But hey, other people or things can take control of our thoughts, and so determine our life. Be also, you want to have the control of your life, so simply take charge. Think it and be it you will.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.
Abraham Lincoln

We often try several things before we realize that making a single decision on something will define a path for you to follow. We linger for so long not realizing that idly following on other people’s path and ideas deny us the ultimate fulfillment we yearn for so much in life. It is that individualized decision/resolution that will lead us onto something we not only love, but that we are equipped for. Even if we fail at it, it is often easier on our consciousness if we lead ourselves to it than when other people do. Make that individual resolution, and live the life it leads you to…confidently.

Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.
Colleen C. Barrett

This is another one of those “attitude is everything” lines. Attitude is that window through which all our viewpoints and vision passes through, and which defines the outcome of everything we do. This explains the reason why when different people do something, we get different results–both fabulous and horrible. Every result comes about based on how we decided to “see” it. It is just a matter of what choice we make in our attitude. But given the two, I’d rather you choose “work being fun”, because it’s easier that way. But again, it is up to you.

Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes to be true.

Self deceit is an example of a self-destruction mechanism that most people are unaware of. One most effective way to deter yourself in anything is to stop believing in yourself and your efforts. This mechanism kills you internally–in your morale, in your will, in your effort. Self-deceit, like a strong wind against you, delays desirable results. It may seem funny, but it’s like your left fist punching your face as the right one constructs it. While it may be self-inflicted, others acquire self-deceit through circumstances, peers and parents. It’s when you become aware of it that you can gain control over it.
