Where we rinse quotes for their deepest meaning

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.
Abraham Lincoln

We often try several things before we realize that making a single decision on something will define a path for you to follow. We linger for so long not realizing that idly following on other people’s path and ideas deny us the ultimate fulfillment we yearn for so much in life. It is that individualized decision/resolution that will lead us onto something we not only love, but that we are equipped for. Even if we fail at it, it is often easier on our consciousness if we lead ourselves to it than when other people do. Make that individual resolution, and live the life it leads you to…confidently.

Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.
Colleen C. Barrett

This is another one of those “attitude is everything” lines. Attitude is that window through which all our viewpoints and vision passes through, and which defines the outcome of everything we do. This explains the reason why when different people do something, we get different results–both fabulous and horrible. Every result comes about based on how we decided to “see” it. It is just a matter of what choice we make in our attitude. But given the two, I’d rather you choose “work being fun”, because it’s easier that way. But again, it is up to you.

Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes to be true.

Self deceit is an example of a self-destruction mechanism that most people are unaware of. One most effective way to deter yourself in anything is to stop believing in yourself and your efforts. This mechanism kills you internally–in your morale, in your will, in your effort. Self-deceit, like a strong wind against you, delays desirable results. It may seem funny, but it’s like your left fist punching your face as the right one constructs it. While it may be self-inflicted, others acquire self-deceit through circumstances, peers and parents. It’s when you become aware of it that you can gain control over it.
